Lending a helping hand goes a long way. It builds stronger communities, forms lasting relationships and assists those in need. It’s a source of pride for our employees to be able to give back to the communities where they live and work. Investing in communities is core to our values and our approach to doing business.
This year alone, employees took part in programs to feed the hungry, support education and the arts, protect and conserve natural resources, provide civic and social services, promote health and safety in communities and assist in disaster relief.
During this holiday season, we give thanks to countless employees who have given their time and talent to support the work of local organizations dedicated to serving others. Here are just a few of the ways they have supported local communities:
Food Bank of Alaska
In Alaska, employees donated $140,000 to the Food Bank of Alaska – which was matched by the company for a total donation of $280,000.
ConocoPhillips Legacy Golf Tournament
In the Eagle Ford, the annual ConocoPhillips Legacy Golf Tournament raised over $210,000 to fund scholarships for children in Karnes County schools. To date, the tournament has helped award $100,000 in scholarships to 20 local recipients.
Relay for Life
Additionally, the ConocoPhillips Relay for Life Committee raised over $57,000 to help cancer patients in the Eagle Ford area during the fourth annual Redfish Roundup.
United Way Days of Caring
During United Way Days of Caring in Houston, ConocoPhillips’ headquarters city, 342 employees dedicated 2,050 hours to helping seven local charities. Activities included:

Sorting, organizing and packing household items

Packing and delivering Meals on Wheels to senior citizens

Visiting with senior citizens

Sorting and distributing items for a local food pantry
Additionally, more than 75 percent of employees participated in our annual United Way campaign, donating millions to support local agencies working to ensure thousands of their neighbors will receive help and have an opportunity for a better future.
Employee-organized fundraising efforts included a golf tournament in Houston that chalked up increased participation and a new event fundraising record, and an online auction featuring more than 600 items.
Light of Hope Breakfast
Employees recently attended the Light of Hope Breakfast event in Denver to help raise awareness and support for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). All event proceeds help the organization recruit, train and manage volunteers who advocate for abused and neglected children.
